At Academy Animal Hospital, we strive to provide all patients with the best care possible. We understand the importance of the human-animal bond and see pets as family members. We want to build long-lasting relationships with our owners and their pets.

We proudly serve our military families and their pets in Jacksonville NC. As a busy walk-in-only clinic established in 1969, we offer a variety of services including vaccines, wellness exams, and a variety of soft tissue surgeries, all without the stress of waiting days for an appointment. Our boarding facility offers quality care for our established clients 365 days a year. When you choose our team, you will be treated like family.

Dr.  Collier

Dr. Laurel Collier is originally from McGee’s crossroad in Johnston County, NC

She obtained her undergraduate degree and Doctor of Veterinary medicine from NC state University (Class of 1995)

Dr. Collier has practiced medicine in Hawaii and Guam before ultimately returning to Jacksonville North Carolina where she has worked since 2010.  Her veterinary medicine interest include all things relating to cats!!

Outside of work she loves spending time with her cats and beautiful daughter.  She is happy to call herself a Chrisitan.

Dr. Lewis

Dr. Lewis is originally from Southwest Virginia, she now resides on the coast in North Carolina. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology with a focus on premed/prevet from Bridgewater College in VA. She obtained her DVM from Purdue University in 2011. She joined the AAH team in 2011 under the prior owner Dr. Charles Franklin. After Dr. Franklin’s passing, she purchased the clinic.  Dr. Lewis’ favorite thing about vet-med is soft tissue surgery, especially airway surgeries of bulldogs.

Outside of the clinic, Dr Lewis enjoys boating, reading, fishing, watching Purdue sports and spending time with her family. She also loves taking care of her farm animals including goats, chickens, ducks, peacocks, birds of all kinds and many more.

Dr. Torres

Dr. Torres grew up in Columbia SC and attended NC State University for her undergraduate in zoology. She received her doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia in 2019.

She resides in Surf City, NC with her husband and her two rescue dogs Henry and Birdie. In her free time, Dr. Torres enjoys relaxing on the beach with a good book, training for marathons and watching college football every Saturday. Go Dawgs!
